SpaceHack is a hackathon, a collaborative event meant to combine the expertise and skills of space and non-space talents in a collective entrepreneurial action. The scope of participating teams is to design innovative concepts that explore the near future potentials of the new space industry.
The hackathon is structured as a team competition of 24hours over three days (3x8hrs) with the support of domain experts and coaches. It is open to space-related professionals and international university/doctoral students.
Hackathon start time: Friday 12th November at 1PM
Hackathon end time (deadline to deliver your project): Sunday 14th November at 5PM
Final projects presentation to jury + award ceremony: Thursday 18th November at 5h30PM
The main theme of this edition is the future Lunar settlement foundations
The context: Imagine it is the year 2040. An international space colony exists on the moon which houses 50 inhabitants (scientists, engineers, etc) at all times and is planned to be expanded to 1000 people capacity in next 10 years.
The objective: Design a Lunar Colony in the Year 2040 Designing, through new space ventures, the future Lunar activities and critical systems & infrastructures (Power/ Resources/ Robotics/ Habitat/ Food/ Waste /Health) ideally having a double impact within lunar and terrestrial applications.
Participants will be invited to work on the following primary domains of a Lunar Colony Architecture:
The participating teams will follow these hackathon process steps:
As participating team, you will contribute to designing the future Lunar settlement foundations.
You will enhance your entrepreneurial & innovation management practices through experiential learning, network with industry experts and newspace players from the Greater Region, and potentially win awesome prizes.
