WHAT IS SPACEHACK?

The SpaceHack is an initiative that uses serious game methodologies to build a collective entrepreneurial action to explore future space industry potentials.

The objective is to gather the different relevant players (Corporates & Startups, Academic & Educational bodies, Support institutions) of the space industry to operate a common action to explore critical innovation topics of the industry and address needed domain skills & expertise to bring innovation to market.

 

WHEN AND WHERE?

The event will take place in Belval, Luxembourg in the University of Luxembourg premises : Maison Du Savoir, 2 Avenue de l’Université L-4365 Esch-sur-Alzette on April 14, 15 and 16, 2023.

Modes of participation:

  • In person participation in Belval-Luxembourg
  • Online participation for participants who world widely distributed and not able to join the gathering in Luxembourg

 

The hackathon will start on Friday at 1PM and will end on Sunday at 7PM. If you participate in person, you can come by car (University parking), by carpooling (we can put you in touch on request) or via public transport (free in Luxembourg). The Belval-Université train station is located at 5 min walking distance from the venue. There are recurrent connections between Luxembourg-City and Belval. On-site accommodation and meals during the hackathon are provided by the organization for the participants and the ambassadors.

  • Collaboratively explore a challenge with the challenge sponsor from industry and issue ideas

  • Design applicable functional concepts and solutions

 

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

Everybody having an interest in space technologies, coders, scientists, designers, makers, builders, technologists, where teams engage with industry players to address real-world problems on Earth and in space.

  • Space tech startups
  • Space-related corporates (operating in space services or space-related product manufacturing/earth observation/satellite communications/telecommunications…)
  • PhD, Master and Bachelor students in space-related programmes (engineering/aerospace/composite materials/telecommunications/satellite)

 

BEFORE EVENT CONSIDERATIONS

  • HOW DO I REGISTER?

Individual registration : Pre-register (here)

While registering you will define your profile, and you will be further invited to join a team prior to the event or during the event if you do not have a team.

For those having a team, pre-register for now as individuals (here) and we will further share a link to register your team. Remember that teams should be formed by a maximum of 5 people.

  • HOW DO I CHOOSE A CHALLENGE? 

On the website you can see all the published challenges, and you will be asked for the team registration in April 2023 to select your preferred challenge to answer during the hackathon (no worries your selection will be updatable). That said, be aware that the challenge will be allocated on a “first come first served” basis on the hackathon date.

  • HOW DO I PREPARE FOR THE HACKATHON ?

You will be invited to 3 webinars on March 16th, 23th and 30th at 6pm. You will find more information in the Webinars section. Please note that your participation is mandatory for your registration.

 

DURING EVENT CONSIDERATIONS

  • HACKATHON STRUCTURE 

Hackathon structure: The hackathon is structured as a team competition of 24hours (3x8hrs) over three days with the support of domain experts and coaches.

  • PROJECT MANAGEMENT GUIDELINES

You will receive an indicative process at the hackathon launch to guide your project under 3 development phases. 3 project check-points/reviews will be operated by the challenge sponsors and/or coaches (After 6-8hrs Concept pitch, After 12-14hrs Solution design review,  After 18-20hrs Solution Pitch)

  • INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY CONCERNS

The intellectual property of responding to a challenge is the property of the members of a registered team.
